NEWS DIRECTOR

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced News Director to join our team in
Watertown, New York. The News Director is responsible for the leadership and
oversight of WTNY- 790 AM & 95.9 FM. The News Director will be the point person for
the news format on the station, and/or will do direct news programming for the station
as needed. The News Director reports to the Program Director and/or to the Market
Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manages and oversees show hosts and newscasters.
Oversees and participates in all station strategic action plans.
Creates original and creative content for each station and extended platforms
(social media, video, marketing, etc.).
Participates in hiring and coaching of all news staff in cooperation with
department leadership.
Oversees writing and production of news content as required.
Stays up to date with knowledge of broadcast systems, ratings methodologies,
automation systems and studio equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent computer skills for audio delivery and automation systems, such as
Wide Orbit, Maestro, Adobe Audition, etc.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of radio programming experience, with direct news
experience.
Experience with station websites, social media, mobile and digital delivery
platforms.
On-air experience and experience operating all on-air and production equipment.
Track record of success in ratings
Position Information:
Full Time position, 40 Hours per week
Pay Range Information: $15.50 to $19.00

ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE

We are looking for a competent Radio & Digital Advertising, Account Executive to find business opportunities and manage customer relationships in our Watertown, New York Market. You’ll be directly responsible for the preservation and expansion of our customer base.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for sales and radio &/or digital advertising with excellent customer service. We expect you to be a reliable professional able to achieve a balance between customer orientation and a results-driven approach. The goal is to find opportunities and turn them into long-term profitable relationships based on trust and mutual satisfaction. The Successful Candidate will receive a guaranteed monthly income!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create detailed business plans to facilitate the attainment of goals and quotas
- Manage the entire sales cycle from finding a client to securing a deal
- Unearth new sales opportunities through networking and turn them into long term partnerships
- Present products to prospective clients
- Provide professional after-sales support to enhance the customers’ dedication
- Remain in frequent contact with the clients in your responsibility to understand their needs
- Respond to complaints and resolve issues aiming to customer contentment and the preservation of the company’s reputation
- Negotiate agreements and keep records of sales and data
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as an Account Executive, or in other sales/customer service role
- 2+ years in radio &/or digital advertising sales is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of market research, sales, and negotiating principles
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; knowledge of CRM software is a plus
- Excellent communication/presentation skills and ability to build relationships
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Enthusiastic and passionate
EDUCATION
- High school diploma
- BS or BA in business administration, sales, advertising, or marketing, preferred but not required.
